'Life Behind the Lens' (2014)- Advanced Scenographic Project
 

For my final year of University, we were tasked with creating an installation inspired by the works of Nikola Tesla, James Hansen and Camille Claudel, incorporating our interests and personal ideals into the piece.

Lucy Gough's 'Machinal' (2013)

 

As part of my third year module 'Advanced Production Project' we were tasked with developing and producing a performance based of Sophie Treadwell's novella 'Machinal.'

 

Though intitally joining the team as a lighting assistant, I was promoted to Stage Manager, working as a liasion between the directors, actors and scenographic team, relaying changes and organising meetings, rehersals and discussions on the progress of the performance.

Stage Manager
 
'It's a Wonderful Life' (2013) - Aberystwyth Art Centre
 

Recommended by Lucy Gough during the Machinal run, I was asked to assist the performance as they needed extra help to complete the performance on schedule. During my time there, I organised set changes and transitions for revolve set, working in collaboration with the existing stage team and the performers to ensure a smooth run as well as secure the saftey of all involved.

 

I also assisted in the organisation of backstage props and costumes, ensuring that all actors and technicians knew where particular props were and when they were required. 

 

 

Social Secretary/ Producer
 
Box Theatre Society - Aberystwyth University


I joined The Box Society as I was interested in exploring other styles of theatre, rather than stick to the traditional style I had predominantly practiced before I came to University.

 

I was fascinated by the worlds one could create in immersive theatre and the reactions of the audience's within this space, especially during a performance of George Orwell's' '1984'

 

I applied for social secretary, and in turn was elected Producer, as I wanted to help our actors and ensure they had a say in the running of the society.

 

Beyond that, I predominantly assisted in lighting and set dressing.

Stage Manager/ Assistant Stage Manager

 

Broadways Theatre Society - Aberystwyth University

 

I became part of Broadways in my second year of university, on the request of a couple of friends who needed a stage manager after their previous one was unavailable. I ran backstage for their productions of 'Vermis' (2013) and 'Ships That Pass' (2013) as well as assisting their technical teams in the get in's and out's.


I learnt alot from Broadways about working backstage and what is required of a stage hand and a stage manager, as well as how to adapt to new performances and new crews with very little prior knowledge of the script, as I was often called into their shows to help last minute.

 

 

 

'1984'
Box Theatre Society (2012)
 

 

I joined The Box Society as I was interested in exploring other styles of theatre, rather than stick to the traditional style I had predominantly practiced before I came to University.


'1984' was the first full production I was a part of during my time at Box, applying for the role of Set Designer, but instead, I worked on the lighting, collaborating with the the other technicians and performers, to create the dark, claustrophobic atmosphere described in Orwell's novel.
